Here is the quote that kept the creative juices flowing:

“When you feel expansion of your consciousness, that is the most ecstatic experience possible, because suddenly you are the whole universe. Stars are within you. The sun rises within you and sets within you. The earth moves within you. The flowers blossom within you.”

I am feeling so much better this week, I can’t tell you. This Flu is nothing to mess with folks, keep yourself free of it if you can. And if you are really sick, please stay home, think of the rest of us out here!
Here is the new work for this week, I did this one yesterday while enjoying a rare day of warmth here in the bluegrass. I’ve been missing the ocean so much, so I painted one for myself. To begin, I stared with an old canvas that had an unsatisfying painting on it already, and painted a ton of gesso on top. Then I swirled the gesso until it started to set up and get thick. I waited for it to dry then went in with thin color to stain the whitest parts of the gesso first. Then layer upon layer I built the colors. They shimmer and shine. The texture shows very well in the sky, I love the rich, leathery feeling it has…and then boom! there is the radiant, glowing sun.
The ocean is of course my Pacific Ocean
(yes, the whole thing, it’s mine).
It’s got the blues, greens and colbalts, as well as lots of movement and texture.
I hope you all like it.
Have a wonderful Monday!

For some reason i thought that I hadn’t commented and meant to all day yesterday. Now I see that I had!

This piece has two of my favorite themes, sunsets and water. I grew up in Mpls., and there are many lakes in that city. I used to just about live at one lake during the summer as a teenager. I love water! Chris on the other hand may like to look at it, but not get in it!

Warmth sinking into cool waters. The white Inbetween blesses both.
