New Art -Set Free- original oil painting, urban art, outsider art

‘Set Free’

18″ x 24″ x 1″

Oils on gallery wrapped canvas, finished sides, needs no frame and is ready to hang

Will be available on my web site in the 2010 gallery

Here is the quote that helped this work along it’s way:

“I have everything, yet have nothing; and although I possess nothing,
still of nothing am I in want. “

Terence (185 BC – 159 BC), Eunuchus

*and*

“I love stuff as much as the next guy, but I’ve come to understand that, regardless of the cost of acquiring it, the price of having it is freedom. “

Colleen Wainwright, Communicatrix

Set Free, I want to be, I am set free. This original oil painting, done in an outsider/urban art style is representative of the act of letting go. Letting go of dogma, tyranny, slavery, and the need to be accepted. Letting all of the anger, fear, worry, and pain, go. Letting go of  wanting, letting go of the need to please. I am letting my work do it’s thing. I am letting the world influence my imagery. I am letting go of fear. I am setting free my inner child to play and create a world I want to live in. I am letting go of the need to express myself in acceptable ways. I am letting go of pretty. I am in free fall, I will learn to fly or bloom where I am planted. I forgive myself for not being, right now, in this moment, perfect.
I am loving. I am free. I am. I choose happy. I choose freedom. I choose to allow. I choose to accept choice and self-control. I choose risk. I choose not knowing. I choose life. I am willing. I am willing to fail. I am willing to succeed. I am willing to be brave. I am willing to love. I am willing to risk. I am willing to be imperfect and grateful. I am willing to be wise. I am not sorry. I am not sorry for living the life that I have. I am not sorry for what I do not have. I am not sorry for being true to me even if that sometimes disappoints people I care about. I am not sorry for being honest, alive and awake. I am not sorry that I am here today with all the trials and tribulations and the moments of darkness and uncertainty. I am not sorry that I am a soul that happens to have a body. I am not sorry that I am free. I am. I am. I am. That is always enough, if I let it be.
Can you see? I have been set free.

I hope you enjoy the work, and thanks for being here today.

Pray for peace,

Heather

‘Watch Tower’

20″ x 24″ x 1.5″

Oils

Gallery wrapped canvas, painted sides, ready to hang

Available for purchase at the BAD! Kitty Art Studio Web Site

Here is the quote that goes along with this work:

“Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don’t give up.”

Watch Tower is a self challenge work for me. I’ve had this tower in my head for a long time, and I never really knew how to accomplish it…then I woke up one morning last week and knew that it was tower painting day. This work took over a week to create; as it is heavily glazed to create depth and drama. The colors sing and the tower glows, even in the dark side, the details of the building are visible, but they are in deep shade. I had some Ah-HA! moments with this work and I feel really great about sharing it with you all. I hope you enjoy it.

I also got all fired up and created three new calendars for 2010! To see them all click here! Or you can see them one at a time:

New Art- Languish

November 1, 2009 2 comments
languish1a

  ‘Languish’

20″ x 24″Gallery wrapped canvas, painted sides, ready to hang

Available for purchase on my web site

The quote that goes with this work:

For here the religion that languishes in crowded cities or steals shame-faced to hide itself in dim churches, flourishes greatly, filling the soul with a solemn joy. Face to face with Nature on the vast hills at eventide, who does not feel himself near to the Unseen?

 W. H. Hudson

Languish is a painting for my tired mind. I needed a quite place to think and feel and process all that is happening in the world at large and in my own inner world. This is what happened when that need went unfulfilled. I like it. It’s working for me.
I hope you enjoy it too.
Blue is a very hard color to get correct pictures of, so bear in mind…this is a deep, velvet study of the color blue. My favorite color when thinking it seems. :)

New Art- Maggie May

Maggie original oil painting by HMBT copyright 209

Maggie original oil painting by HMBT copyright 209

‘Maggie May’

oils

18″ x 24″

Finished sides, painting on back stapled gallery canvas, needs no frame and is ready to hang

The quote that inspired the work:

We women, when we’re searching for a meaning to our lives or for the path of knowledge, always identify with one of four classic archetypes.

The Virgin (and I’m not speaking here of a sexual virgin) is the one whose search springs from her complete independence, and everything she learns is the fruit of her ability to face challenges alone.

The Martyr finds her way to self-knowledge through pain, suffering, and surrender.

The Saint finds her true reason for living in unconditional love and in her ability to give without asking anything in return.

Finally, the Witch justifies her existence by going in search of complete and limitless pleasure.

~Paulo Coelho

It’s hard to see in the picture, but she has rich sparkling green eyes. She really is a very pretty girl, with a warm and loving heart. I hope you enjoy my newest work. Thanks for being here today.

The Daily Art- Surrender from the choir series

Here are the two quotes for this work.
(it’s a big work, it needed more words before
it would shape up and fly right):
***
Self-interest is but the survival of the animal in us.
Humanity only begins for man with self-surrender.
Henri Frederic Amiel (1821 – 1881)
***
Everything is on its way to becoming something else, and therefore, nothing can be held onto. If you see this clearly, if you consider and examine this deeply and fully, then letting go is the only thing left to do. How can you hold on? What is there to hold onto? So the art of spiritual surrender is really the art of not knowing. Then it doesn’t make any difference at all whether you are walking down the street or eating lunch or responding to your email or making love or sitting alone on your couch. This is the first and last time you will ever be doing this. If you truly understand that, it changes everything.

Good Friday all!
I have been so crazy busy this last week. I do have a new work that is coming along. I hope to finish it this loooong weekend, so maybe I can show it to you all by early next week. It’s supposed to be nice weather here in the Bluegrass, so we will be gardening, playing with the kids, and taking siestas on the back porch.

Here is the quote that helped the inspiration:

“People who treat other people as less than human must not be surprised when the bread they have cast on the waters comes floating back to them, poisoned.”

James Baldwin (1924 – 1987)
***
This work is paper on heavy card stock then laminated. I am working on a large canvas mixed media work, have been for a week or more now. I also was finally able to unpack all of the studio boxes full of the paper I hauled across the country. Gave up space in the trailer to make room for a few boxes of paper, vintage pictures, collected fine hand made paper, vintage magazines, snips of pictures, pages ripped out of books because I could only afford so much weight in the trailer for my enormous book collection. In sorting, and sorting I have been collage/mixed media crazy. It’s so fun to pull out the bags and tins that I carefully sorted and packed so many moons ago. This one small collage came from the sorting effort. I needed to create, had little time, and a small box of pr-cut images. The laminator got unpacked…and that’s all she wrote folks. It came together pretty quick and in the moment.
This work is a little about anger, a little about family life, a little about humanity, a little about not enough love, a little about fire in the belly, a little about fear, a little about personal power…a little about me.
I love collage and mixed media for the effect that it has on my brain. I can’t think beyond does this fit? Is that right? Is this what I want to say? Ohhh, can I fit that in? I love it.
I hope everyone is enjoying their day in the world today,

Here is the quote for this work:

All that is required for you to live the freedom of your divinity is to again become familiar with returning back to your true nature. Being it and sinking deeply into living as it.

The quote that inspired the work:
” We put thirty spokes to make a wheel: But it is on the hole in the center that the use of the cart hinges. We make a vessel from a lump of clay; But it is the empty space within the vessel that makes it useful. We make doors and windows for a room; But it is the empty spaces that make the room livable. Thus, while existence has advantages, It is the emptiness that makes it useful.”
~Lao Tzu

Painting an empty spot…I have this series of quiet place paintings…they are a place internally that I visit and sit and listen to nothing, feel nothing, want nothing…just really quiet places…lately when the world gets too fast, and dirty I have been going to this little spot in my mind’s eye…a slightly beat up, warm and almost grimy urban spot where I can look at a bare patch of wall space and think of nothing. For some reason I have been picking this place in my head…and to me… is welcoming because of this vibration of the world and it’s spinning and moving and grooving…all except in this little spot in the sun. It’s a really magic spot…I can hear the world spinning, but in this little corner, this bare patch on a side street in my mind…it’s quiet, imperfect and full of peace. I don’t know I just really have been digging it, so I painted it out with my own favorite graffiti too…I need a peaceful place sometimes.

Today is Mate Man’s Birthday…so, Happy Birthday to the greatest guy in the world! I know we are waiting until Saturday morning to celebrate, but I wanted to shout out to my Man on his special day. I love you Mate Man, you continue to rock my world 13 years later!  And later when you get home from work…”I’m going to make you anything you want in there {kitchen, yes I’m making homemade Cheesecake} and do anything you want in there!{bedroom} *Wicked Monkey Grins*

In other news…I’ve been uninspired over the last week or so as far as the studio work goes, I worried about it for a few days and then I just let it go. I know that sometimes I go through quiet times inside my head, so I am not going to push too hard. When the art comes back on-line, I’ll be impatient to get all the new art out of my brain pan, and be painting 12 hours a day again. For now, I am just relaxing and waiting for the calm before the internal storm. I have been having crazy wild dreams the last two nights, and that usually means I’m coming back into the world of imagination and fearlessness. So, watch this space and soon there will be new art. The artist challenge is going live with the “Unrequited Love” showing on the 15th, don’t miss that, it looks to be incredible fun.

Hope everyone is fit and fine,
Heather
